Collective Worship

Worship is at the heart of our community. Every day begins with inviting students to worship together as a form, year group or Key Stage.

BeInspirational

The Becket School uses the online BeInspirational website which can be accessed here. Each week prayers, reflections and celebrations are centred on a “Word of the Week”, linked to the Church’s liturgical year.

Liturgical Workshops

Each year group will be given time off from their academic studies to work with our chaplains in Liturgical Workshops. These focus on key events in the annual cycle of the Church’s year and give students the opportunity to reflect more deeply on their importance.

Holy Days of Obligation 2023/24

As prescribed by the Nottingham Diocesan Ordo, there are 4 holy days of obligation which do not fall on a Sunday.

  • Friday 1st November – All Saints
  • Monday 25th December – Nativity of the Lord
  • Thursday 9th May – The Ascension of the Lord
  • Thursday 15th August – assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On these days Catholic should attend mass and engage in rest from work. As a school we are committed to providing the opportunity for all students to participate mass on these days where we are in school.

Retreat days

Throughout the academic year all students have a chance to spend time away from their normal timetable to explore the themes of their faith. The days are led by our chaplains and facilitated by all staff within the school. Our chaplains work closely with the pastoral teams to create innovative, relevant, and engaging experiences for our young people to deepen their faith.
