Pupil Premium at The Becket School
At The Becket School, we live out our mission inspired by John 10:10: “I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness.” This calls us to create a school community where every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to flourish academically, socially, morally, and spiritually. The Pupil Premium is a vital part of our mission, ensuring no student is left behind and that every child can experience life in all its fullness.
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support disadvantaged students and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. Schools receive this funding for pupils who are or have been eligible for free school meals in the last six years, children looked after by the local authority, or children from families in the armed forces. At The Becket School, this funding is used strategically to address barriers to learning and ensure all students can achieve their full potential.
How We Use Pupil Premium Funding
We use Pupil Premium funding strategically to address challenges and unlock potential. Our initiatives include:
- Academic Support: Personalised interventions such as tutoring, small-group work, and targeted literacy and numeracy programs to close attainment gaps.
- Cultural and Enrichment Opportunities: Subsidised trips, Becket Reads, and access to extracurricular activities.
- Pastoral Care: A Pupil Premium Intervention Lead, mentoring, counselling, and support through our Damascus Centre, designed to nurture wellbeing and provide tailored support for students’ emotional and social needs.
