Our Chapel

Our Chapel

In the early 2000s The Becket School was successful in securing  nearly £25 million in government funding to create a state-of-the-art school which could provide an outstanding learning environment.

As a government funded project a chapel was not included as part of the initial project and so the diocese of Nottingham, our community parishes, the school itself and its £150,000 to ensure that faith remained at the centre of our community.

Each part of the chapel is superficially designed to represent of our faith and our history. From the blue and yellow carpets to represent the colour of St Thomas Becket, to the hand carved crests in the 180 wooden seats. The walls of the chapel have memorials to past students an our altar contains the relics of St Thomas Becket and St Benedict.

The chapel serves as a spiritual hub for the school, where staff, students, parents and parishioners can gather for  prayer, reflection, celebrations and community liturgies.
