Careers Hub
“Good careers guidance widens pupils’ horizons, challenges stereotypes and raises aspirations. It provides pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to make successful transitions to the next stage of their life. This supports social mobility by improving opportunities for all young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs and disabilities.” Careers guidance and access for education and training providers DfE Jan 2018
CAREER describes our journey through life, learning and work.
Throughout your time in The Becket School, you will make choices about your future – your next steps, such as what to study and where to study.
Having ALL the right information can help you to make the best decisions for you.
It is the vision of The Becket School that all students should aim to ‘Work hard, be loving and do the right thing’ in all aspects of their education and become employable young people by the time they leave school. We recognise that guidance should be provided that is in the best interests of the young person; it is presented in an impartial manner and that good careers guidance is distinctive to the needs of individual students.
Careers education, information, advice and guidance has a major role in the school’s commitment to lifelong learning. We aim to ensure that all students who leave The Becket School have the very best preparation for adult life and all our practices are geared to this purpose.
Mrs Salisbury our Careers Advisor is based in the dedicated Careers Office in the LRC and can be contacted at careers@becketonline.co.uk or by calling 0115 982 4280.
The Careers Programme is overseen by Mrs Coe (Assistant Headteacher) and we work together with Futures who provide more individual and tailored independent careers advice and guidance for our young people.
The school has two dedicated Career Padlet’s. These are updated regularly with information and opportunities available to the student and can be accessed by parents/carers as well, please follow the links below.
