Mentoring Trainee Teachers - A Support Programme  @ The Becket School | West Bridgford | United Kingdom

Who is it for?

If your school is offering places to trainee teachers through the School Direct programme or PGCE students then this event is for you.

Course Description:

A key part of support given to trainee teachers is the role of their mentor. This programme is delivered through workshops, presentations and case studies. You will be facilitated by experienced mentors and outstanding practitioners.

Sessions:

  • Access training from experienced mentors
  • Share ideas and experiences
  • Be involved in the setting up of a mentor support network
  • Use case studies to develop mentoring practice
  • Explore different models of mentoring
  • Share top tips and put them into practice
  • Hear from NQT’s about the impact that mentoring has had on their practice

Assessment Without Levels CPD – 1 @ The Becket School

Who is it for? This course is for primary Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers and Assessment Co-ordinators.

Course Description: This course is to support you with building up teacher assessment evidence through the effective use of a suitable teacher assessment tool when assessing without levels. Examples of tracking the pupil’s progress without the use of levels for the new national curriculum will also be shared.

Day One: Core Subjects and Tracking of Progress. Assessment for the core subjects- Writing, Maths and Science. Assessment from day to day. Tracking of progress in the core areas. The monitoring of assessment. Examples of good practice on assessment from leading specialists.

Day Two: Assessment for the Whole Curriculum. Reading through assessment as a core area. Teaching approach through reciprocal reading. Sharing of good practice for assessment. Support for the planning of assessment in your school- mapping and action planning.

Lead Facilitator: Tammie McNamara Deputy Headteacher- St Albans Catholic Primary School. Specialist Leader of Education- Assessment Lead moderator KS1 for Derby City STA work as part of a National expert group to produce exemplification materials for KS1 Reading performance descriptors.
