Gain Experience of Teaching (SEP)
Gain Experience of Teaching via our School Experience Programme
As an Alliance, the NCTSA endeavours to support people who are seeking a career in teaching. Gaining classroom experience before you start your initial teacher training (ITT) can really help you make sure that a career in teaching is right for you.
For some this involves sampling a day or two in a school to see whether this is a viable career. Others who have already decided that a career in teaching is what they desire, now need to build a portfolio of evidence of time spent in schools liaising with teachers and students in advance of an application for teaching.
To qualify for School Experience with us you must:
- intend to apply for initial teacher training in the year 2019-20
- have Maths and English GCSE at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- have, or are expected to have, a minimum of a 2:2 in a degree which is relevant to the subject you wish to teach, or sufficient A level qualifications to enable you to progress with your application with some subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) support if appropriate: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/subject-knowledge-enhancement-guide
- Please note that in order to spend more than 3 days in any of our Alliance schools or academies you will require a DBS check. This is part of our Safeguarding Policy. If you are applying for more than 3 days you will need to process and fund the DBS clearance yourself.
Please submit your requests for School Experience to Marie Jackson – ITT Coordinator: firstname.lastname@example.org
