Year 6 Transition Welcome and important information
Welcome to our Year 6-7 transition information. Given the tricky circumstances we are all working in at the moment, we really want to be able to make connections with our incoming pupils and families so we have moved our operations online. Please click on the link for our New Intake presentation video
Summer Scheme 2020 – each year a group of our wonderful staff and students come together to run our Summer Scheme which is a fantastic way for you to get to know the school, staff and to make new friends! We are very sad to announce that due to the current situation we are in and having looked at a number of alternative ways to make this go ahead, it will not be possible for us to run this popular scheme this year.
Whether you are a parent/carer or young person coming to The Becket in September, we hope you will find the information you need in the information and forms section to get you started.
Parents and Carers, please access the ‘information and forms’ section which includes some documentation to complete and a Loom presentation that replaces our New Intake Evening presentation.
In ‘information for pupils’ you will find a video featuring Mrs Vaughan, our Year 7 Progress Leader, and some of our current Year 7 pupils.
The uniform section contains a guide to our uniform expectations and what you will need, it is important to note that only branded skirts and trousers are permitted and please remember to clearly mark your clothing with your name. You will have received a tape measure in your welcome pack to help you buy uniform in the correct size. Do make sure you contact Big Fish with any queries about measuring etc. To be able to support you with ordering our uniform and equipment, please click this link for our Y7 Uniform and Equipment Checklist, which we hope will help you with some of the items your child/ren will need.
Our section on The Becket Way introduces you to our school’s culture. The Becket Way is a key part of everything we do in school. During our induction period in September we will run sessions on The Becket Way but Mr Griffin will be uploading more resources on here over the coming weeks so you can familiarise yourself with this before you arrive.
Don’t forget to look in the activities section – each week there will be something new to look at or engage with.
As we have a lot of information to share with you, we will be loading new resources each week. Please check in on a weekly basis to see what’s new in each section. In due course, we will add introductions to some key members of staff who you will meet in September, including our fabulous Year 7 form tutors; we will also be giving you a virtual tour of the school.
Do not hesitate to email us on email@example.com with any questions you may have that are not answered on these pages.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep well. We are really looking forward to welcoming you into our school in September, but your journey as part of The Becket community begins right here!
Mrs Chloe Quirk
Assistant Headteacher (Transition)
