The Great European Bake Off 2019
This year, to celebrate European Day of Languages, the Becket MFL department decided to host a bake off. The cakes were European themed and we saw all sorts of creations from both staff and students. From a huge red Welsh dragon, to a French ski slope and a particularly tasty English Victoria Sponge!
The judges were very impressed by the quality of the cakes and found it very difficult to choose a winner and a runner up.
Our Year 8 winner, cleverly formed the colours of the German flag using different sweets. When cut into, the judges discovered a surprise in the centre; smarties!
Our Year 9 runner up James Macqueen, very appropriately made a ‘Brexit’ cake, with a European Union themed cake then a mini cupcake standing alone to one side representing the UK.
It was a fabulous event and the MFL department would like to thank everyone who took part in baking, judging and spectating.
