Buxton Fringe Festival 2018

Shadow Syndicate is officially a Double Award winning theatre company for the second consecutive year, as they are presented with Awards for Excellence Youth Theatre Production and the Youth Actor Award for Isabel Milner’s portrayal of Melina in their production entitled Extremism by Anders Lustgarten, at the Buxton Fringe 2018 awards ceremony.  The annual residential Drama trip proved to be a huge success, not only for the accolades we received from the public, reviewers and the Fringe itself, but also for the students as they watched over 17 other different performances whilst we were there.

Shadow Syndicate is the theatre company that all actors perform under within the Drama Department, be it an internal piece in our studio or an external show on a professional stage.  The artistic aim of the company is to provide young people with opportunities to perform different styles of productions on various amateur and professional stages to extend their love and experience of theatre.  The reputation of this company has developed significantly over the ten years since I founded it, moving forward significantly in recent years as we involve more young people in an increasingly varied programme of performances.

We are extremely humbled to be a double award winning theatre company in consecutive years and it stands as a testament to the standard of acting now flourishing at the Becket School.  To further develop this talent pool, the Drama Department is developing some new opportunities in an extra-curricular sense from September 2018, that students from all Years will be able to access.
